Forgetting God

Have you ever noticed that when we neglect to spend time with God, it is typically because we allow the day to day obligations and worries to consume our minds and our hearts to the point that we just forget to spend time with God? We say things like, I need to get this done and then I will spend time with you God. But before you know it, we have something else that comes up, we get absorbed with taking care of that thing or with worrying about what we are going to do about our finances, that car problem, that relationship issue, cleaning the house, mowing the grass, fixing the car or running around taking the kids to their millions of activities that God gets forgotten. And when we finally think about spending some time with God we are so tired and exhausted that all we want to do is fall into bed and forget all our obligations by sleeping them away. However, this verse reminds us to not lose track of time, to not allow our obligations consume our minds and our hearts to the point of forgetting God. But it is up to us to make sure we don't get to absorbed and exhausted for God. Maybe that is why Proverbs 8:33-35 says, "Blessed the man, blessed the woman, who listens to me,
awake and ready for me each morning,
alert and responsive as I start my day's work.
When you find me, you find life, real life,
to say nothing of God's good pleasure."
