Complete Abandon

The recall to follow Jesus
- same fishermen that jesus had called in Matthew 4
- Peter agreed to Jesus request ... Only because Jesus said so (referred to him as master) ... He did not expect to catch anything
- when Peter saw the great catch, his response was one of unworthiness ... confession
- miracle confirmed Jesus/God's majesty (referred to Jesus as Lord)
- his confession may have been as a result of the fact that they were back at the vocation they had been serving when they were called ... back at doing what they knew, where they felt comfy, where they felt in control
- Jesus response - Don't be afraid, from now on you'll be catching men ... second call was same as first even though they had changed the focus of their dependence ... that's grace
- fear of being disqualified
- response ... pulled up nets and left EVERYTHING
- we what to retain control, call the shots, follow based on our comfort and convenience, follow as long as fits in our routine/schedule
- his call is radical and risky
- he wants us to be committed not casual

Lord - help me to release control ... help me to be radically abandoned to you.
