Why do people love being simple?

I have a business, and am looking for good, honest people to help expand. Daily, I sit with people who tell me they want to change their life. They want to have a bigger impact on the world, more influence. More money so they can give more, retire their parents, etc.

When I explain how my business can provide those things, they decide to stay where they are.

Perfect example from this week. A girl came in and told me all those things. Plus, she's going to be a single parent in 3 months, is broke, and works at Wal Mart. She was excited about the opportunity and felt that God had answered her prayer for better financial stability for her child.

But, she was afraid of doing something new.

I couldn't reach her for the last few days. Finally got hold of her yesterday, and she basically told me that God wants her to sit still and wait for Him. That He will be her provision. That she's not sure where God wants her to be. She's wanting to be a preacher someday.

So, let me understand this: You're broke, you hate your job, you have a kid on the way, you're single, you need to make more money and have been praying for an opportunity. And now you're praying about it?

This makes no sense to me. How long will "Christians" continue to WAIT and not take an active role in their lives? Why would God NOT want you to make more money? Could God not use those resources to help missions, church planting/growth, helping the poor, etc? I deal with more Christian people who use God as an excuse to not live abundantly. Like they feel that God WANTS them to be broke and scared. God doesn't want His people to be broke, and He has not given us the spirit of fear! God wants us to live abundant, rich lives full of giving and making the world better! God is looking for people to rise up and IMPACT the world! God isn't looking for wimps.
