Oct. 20, 2011 - Honest With God
David always seems to be bipolar in Psalms. One minute he's emotionally up talking about God's goodness and praising Him. The next minute David is emotionally down crying out to God. I can relate to this. It's unfortunate that our emotions drive our relationship with God...instead of the faithful knowledge in what we Scripturally know. However, with that emotional drive comes the comfort of knowing we can be honest with God. David reminds us of that throughout the Psalms...a perfect example being Psalm 6:6. David is being honest with God about his anger, sorrow, depression and things that are disturbing him in life. God already knows David feels this way...but the courage of David to actually say it out loud to God is inspiring. Too many times I hold back in my prayer life afraid that God will get sick of my grumbling, depression or anger. What I find is that the opposite seems true.
When I get honest with God...He speaks to me in ways I've never encountered before. I find that a desperate Christian...prays desperate prayers...to a God they are desperate for. When we are desperate for God...and are honest with Him...His moving is beyond awesome.
