It is interesting that scripture notes the other wife of Elkanah as Hannah's "rival". What a horrible way to live life! In spite of that, however, we find Hannah remaining faithful and see/hear no sign that she retaliated. Instead she committed herself to prayer in hopes that God would hear her.
