Real Life: Completely Defeated

The Apostle Paul:

- RESPONDED to a serious issue in the church.
~ The church was fighting among themselves bringing lawsuits against each other in front of unbelievers.

- REPRIMANDED the church for ungodly behavior.
~ We will judge the world. But how can we do this if we can't settle our disputes among ourselves, when we fight and show discontent among one another.
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:15 don't pay back wrong for wrong
~ 1 Peter 2:19-21 follow the example of Christ when we feel we are wronged.
~ Romans 12:17-21 do not repay evil for evil
~ 1 Corinthians 4:12-13 bless those who curse you, endure persecution

- REMINDED the church of what they have in Christ.
~ before Christ you have every reason to gripe, complain, and take others to court
~ BUT: after Christ we were washed, we were sanctified, we were justified
~ we give up the right to gripe, complain, and take others to court

Even when we FALL SHORT it's good to remember who we are!
