Eagerness isn't enough

How often is my spirit eager to achieve or sign up for something, but then my flesh isn't strong enough to carry it through.

The only way to convert eagerness to effectiveness is through alertness, and prayer... otherwise temptation will undermine any benefits that might have been converted from eagerness.
