The 19th chapter of Genesis reminds us that the more we have in terms of material items, the more it is important to remain strongly connected to God. If we sacrifice our morals because of our wealth, then God has no need for us in His plans...except as an example like Sodom and Gomorrah.
In having much in terms of goods and property, Lot's family witnessed the demise of his wife because she had no self-control and looked back at what she was leaving behind. With regard to Lot and his daughters, they all sacrificed their morals via incest with the purpose of selfish gain. These two incidents show that people who acquire much in their lifetime, may have to work the hardest at moral restraint in order to not succumb to the greed that the devil has created in order for us to take our focus off of the Lord.
Whether rich or poor, if we allow God in our presence and have Christ as our foundation, then we will be able to focus on the true merit in life. Spiritual abundance never loses its value and moral fortitude is what our God appreciates.
