Loaves and Fish in John 6.9
I just read in Barclay that Barley is the cheapest of breads. It was the bread of the poorest people.
The fish were sold all over Galillee like slim jim's at convenience stores. They were tiny pickled fish like modern sardines. They weren't really a meat, but more of a condiment that the boy would smush onto the bread.
