Lay Down My Life
No one could take Christ's life from him. Only He could lay it down on his own accord. Willingly he sacrificed. Unselfishly he laid down his life for my unworthy gain.
I am an adult. I decide where I go, how I spend my time, how I spend my money, where my affection and attention is directed. I have control over my life.
So how often do I willingly, on my own accord, lay my life down for the sake of another's gain. "I really don't want to encourage that person today, they deserve that bed they lay in." "I do not want to do that! It's not my job!" "But I would rather be doing..."
Instead of saying, "My Savior served me even when I didn't deserve it so that is how I will serve those around me." "My Savior laid down his life and in the same way I will unselfishly sacrifice my desires, crucify my flesh, die to myself for the gain of others because my Savior is worth it."
Jesus, teach me how to lay my life down. Teach me how to serve humbly. Teach me how to die to myself. Teach me how to decrease so you may increase. Teach me how to crucify my flesh, take up my cross and follow you.
