It's interesting to see that God has always been the initiator of the covenants. Up to this point it has never been man who approach God requesting for a covenant on their behalf.
God is a righteous God and He destroy mankind. He's also a merciful God for sparing a few and then making a covenant with all flesh to never destroy "all" flesh again. Not only that He created a rainbow so whenever there is a rain shower it's a sign to man and a reminder to God about the covenant which He made.
The creator of the universe cares for mankind, made a covenant with them, made a mark in nature that reminds man of God's existence and God of His covenant to them.
To know that the author of the universe placed a rainbow in the sky as a token of His promise, and to realize that there is a God who controls all of the things going on around our lives is an incredible feel and an unfathomable thought.
Let's just meditate on that for a while.
