Oct. 28, 2011 - Choose Smeone Else God
There have been times where I have felt just like Moses..."thanks for the calling God...but no thanks." This has been one of those weeks!!!
Pastoring, shepherding and leading people looks great...from the outside. When you are actually doing it leading can become taxing, tiresome and debilitating. I don't care if you lead 2 people, 200 people' 2,000 people or 20,000 people...it can flat scare you to death...and wear you down. Every time you look out...there are faces looking back at you with that "where are we going" look...or the "help me please" look. It is normally in those times that...as a leader...you know you don't have the skills to pull it off. You know that it is only through the power of God working in you...that you are able to lead.
I love this set of passages...I read them often when I'm feeling overwhelmed by leadership and pastoring. I actually take comfort in knowing that Moses ticked God off...and that God still told him to go. I know there are days I tick God off when I want to hide from leadership. I also know that I was built for this...as was Moses. There is nothing else I can do...or desire to do...than lead a church. So like Moses I grumble some...God takes me to the "woodshed" and I push on for His Kingdom.
