Sanctify me Lord

The devotional scripture this morning reveals an interesting lesson. In verses 29-30 Jesus'disciples confessed that they understood what He was talking about and they believed that He was from God. That was their confession of faith. However, immediately afterwards Jesus told them that a time was coming where they would be scattered.

The lesson here is that this is a process that a believer experiences as we seek to grow in our relationship with Christ. We confess that we love God, trust Him and believe in Him. Nevertheless, we soon discover a gap between our confessions of faith and the way we live our life. There are areas of our life in which we our confessions do align with our actions and then there are areas of our life in which we struggle. The good news for us is that God is already aware of our weaknesses yet He accepts us just as we are and works out these issues through a process called sanctification.

This is not a one time deal after we accept Christ into our life. Rather, this is a lifetime process in the life of the believer. The Bible says that God looked beyond our faults and saw our needs. Thank you Lord for not giving up on me. Sanctify me Lord!
