Think you've arrived? Think again.
God burns what doesn't produce fruit. That's understandable. But He's not done there. Even the branches that ARE bearing fruit, He prunes.
I could think that because He's burned all the non-fruit producing branches that I'm good to go. I must think again. I'm always prone to my own selfishness and self-centeredness. I deviate from authentic humility. I get to thinking my good deeds are pretty cool. What a hazard!
Just as I'm grateful for the gift of pain (because it protects me) I'm grateful for God's pruning process of already-fruit-bearing branches. Otherwise I could get WAY off base.
