Why Not The Fire?

Elijah was an emotional guy. In one chapter he's literally having a mountaintop experience. In the next, he has believed the rumors, reacted to his circumstances, and has now let his emotions dictate his direction. It's a natural flow. He put his focus on what was happening around him and became frustrated, angry, depressed. And in these fiery emotions, Elijah was more focused on himself than on hearing God, than on pursuing peace. Why would God not be in the fire? You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. [[ Acts 10:36 ]] The Gospel is peace and our emotions are wayward. They are valid, and Jesus experienced emotions, too. But we won't hear God clearly if we let our emotions decide when we'll listen.
