Mystery: is the secret meaning which Christ makes plain and no human being could have guessed. Some see 'angels' as a reference to pastors (although elsewhere in Revelation angels are always heavenly beings), some to guardian angels. but the best interpretation, in the light of what follows, is 'the essential spirit' of each church.
