The Reality of God

It is often stated or insunuated that it is required to remove or distance yourself or your thinking from reality at some level in order to believe in God. However, nothing could be further from the truth -- in fact nothing could be more OPPOSITE from the truth. Because the fact of the matter is, GOD IS.

He is the One Who spoke, and the universe leapt into existence (Gen.1).

He is the One in Whom we live, and move, and have our being (Acts 17:28).

He is the One Whose nature can be seen (by those who are open to seeing, and have learned to see) in nature, being the works of His hands and formed from His Thoughts and Words (Romans 1:20).

When He was asked to identify Himself, He said I AM. I believe that there can be no more unchangably true statement than that. I think that is one half of the basis of Hebrews 11:6, "...he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." God rewards those who dilligently seek Him because, first of all, He IS; and second of all (and a second of the big unchangeable truths) that He is Love (1John 4:16). This is the basis of faith, as Hebrews 11 says, not that we ignore reality, but truly embrace it on a level that goes beyond the finite smallness of the kind of thinking that is automatic in a fallen world.
