Fast Times At Hebrew High
Daniel was taken out of his environment and thrown into a drastically new one. I equate this to being transferred to a new school.
Daniel made a very significant decision as this transplant took place. He chose not to defile himself.
Dan 1:8
But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king's food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself.
This reminds me of when Jesus said in Mat 10:16 he sends us out like sheep among wolves.
God has his back, gave him favor because he did not compromise.
Daniel went on to do extraordinary things that we all know and read about but really his defining moment in life, I believe happened right here. It projected him to greatness like a catapult.
Dan 6:3
Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other presidents and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.
