Faith Mementos: Spiritual Journaling

I think it is so cool that OT believers named physical places and objects, especially rocks, to journal or commemorate those special times in their life when it was obvious that God had touched their lives in a very personal way.

I think it is important that we record God's legacy in our lives as well, and pass it on to the next generation to build on. Journaling is one way to do this but I think we should commemorate God's goodness with physical objects as well. A photo album of answers to prayer, like your first pet or the baptism of some lost loved one, is one example. Or maybe you could plant a tree and even name it to commemorate a special act of God such as healing.

There are lots of ways to do this, just use your own imagination. The key is not to over do it. Keep it focused on those things where you or your family clearly saw God work in a personal or miraculous way that touched your heart. It's too easy to forget God's goodness.
