Context of teaching on roles of women
Paul's direction on the roles of men and women are often debated> This passage has a very interesting element to it in that it clearly states the purpose for WHY his teaching is what it is here. The purpose is "so that no one will malign the gospel."
So rather than get hung-up on specifics of the practices being taught, it is perhaps of greater importance to consider the goal that is being put forth. So in whatever context believers find themselves, the way they structure their lives and roles in the home should be done so as not to malign the gospel. This certainly brings freedom to practice and brings honor to God in the given context.
