Perhaps the only way to truly know God is with a broken heart. Broken by shame, guilt, humility and a realization that we are unworthy of His grace.

Perhaps we serve a broken-hearted God. The world is still full of dark places and lost souls, seen by God who waits for His followers to move and deliver His message of grace and love.

And we all know the message. As Christians, we can trace back to the moment we saw God and knew we had to make a choice: self or Him. And if we're not broken over who we were in the midst of who God is shaping us to be, we've not fully grasped the divine miracle of God's mercy - Jesus Christ, broken on a cross for me, for you and for the souls still wandering in the darkness.

God sent His son to restore a broken relationship. To truly know God, I think we have to be broken. To truly understand God, I think we have to be broken hearted. Perhaps.

Perhaps we serve a broken-hearted God.
