Why would Christ return as a thief in the night? Why doesn't He just announce that on the 25th of December 2919- I'll be coming to take you home!
Would that make it easier for us to live the Christian life? Or if He told you what day you would die? I don't want to know the day of my death! I want to live like I'm dying everyday! If He told the world of the exact day and hour, people may procrastinate until the last minute'
You know as well as I that the day of the Master's coming can't be posted on our calendars. He won't call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. (1 Thessalonians 5:2 MSG)
God is NOT going to tell any individual, any select denomination, of His return!
You or I will not be privy to this info!
However, He has told us to count on His return and to be ready and even has given us signs to know if it's getting close!
How would it change out lives to know the exact time of our death? The exact time of our new life? Of our new adventure beginning with Jesus!
Some would get their act cleaned up fast!
No more partying, they'd get sober and cleaned up!
People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not us! Since we're creatures of Day, let's act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation. (1 Thessalonians 5:7, 8 MSG)
Live like we are dying- today. Treat others like it was our last day on earth! Speak to the ones we haven't spoken to in years! Make amends. We wont be losing our temper today, worried about the bills, cheating on our spouse, stealing or using drugs! Its time to get our LIFE right with God...no more putting off, saying tomorrow I'll do it!
The thing is, it may be today that Christ returns, OR that we die! But one thing is certain, one of those two things WILL happen!

May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together-spirit, soul, and body-and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he'll do it! (1 Thessalonians 5:23, 24 MSG)
