Questions the Corinthians asked
1. Is it acceptable to buy and eat meat sacrificed to idols?
2. Is it acceptable to accept meat sacrificed to idols?
Maturing Christians should consider:
☞ The proper PLACE for our rights.
→ True knowledge leads us to love God
→ John 13:34-35
→ meat sacrificed to idols is not the real issue the real issue is "does my love to God and my love to others allow me to eat meat sacrificed to idols"
☞ The POSITION of our our brothers and sisters in Christ.
→ Philippians 2:3-4 Maturing believer takes head to this instruction
→ Psalm 115:1-8 an idol is nothing more than the material it is made of
→ Deuteronomy 4:35-39
→ not every believer is at the same level
→ it's not rights or knowledge, mature believers need to be careful not to be a stumbling block to the younger believer
☞ The PRIORITY of love.
→ if we choose our rights over love we are sinning against God
"Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall..."
That's Love!
We should not acquiesce to the spiritual bigots of this world.
Focus on the weaker believers, and to love them above your rights.
