Doubt

It's comforting to know that the great man of faith - greatest after Christ in the Bible had to wrestle with doubt. That teaches me that we all have doubts. But instead of adopting the eveyone-does-it-we're-too-imperfect-to-do-better attitude that gives us slothful believers license to shirk the commands our LORD has given us power to obey, I'm going to notice WHAT Abraham learned from this bout of unfaithfulness, not merely remark THAT he had it. It. Never. Works. Whatever the ultimate plan is that we substitute for trusting God -it's not going to work. It didn't work for Abraham & it won't work for me. And the consequences are not limited to myself. Abraham dragged Sarah into his sin as well, and would have done with the king & all his people as well had God not been merciful and intervened. I just need to learn that even when the circumstances seem terrifying my God is bigger than my circumstances. His Word is stronger than my doubt.
