I was led to this scripture while engaging in the most tedious task my life has ever known, searching for a church. Never have a seen leadership discourage the infamous shout. Prophetess Valencia Luckett led others to a blog written by J. Lee Grady titled "Don't Settle For The Fake Anointing." In it, he references this peice of scripture. I wish that every one could read it, with the ears to hear and the eyes to see, and the the heart to understand. The shout has become synonymous with religion to the world. Israel, God's chosen ppl, are going in to battle. On the first day of battle, the return to their camps, badly beaten. The begin to question God. How can we turn a deaf ear to the voice of Christ? He brings us to a place and there we begin to question his motives and completely miss what he is doing. He must keep moving. So we are left. We become bitter and begin to complain about a place we are in and he isnt even there. Move! Back to the story, after seeing the damage done in the first fight of battle they begin to question God. 3. Why has God given us such a beating today by the Philistines? Let's go to Shiloh and get the Chest of God's Covenant. It will accompany us and save us from the grip of our enemies. Seriously? First and foremost, you should have had the word with you before you went into battle. And i dont just mean the tangible scriptures. That's like going into Iraq with no order from the government, no covering, and standing on the front line with a Bible in your hand. Boom pow. Yea, you're dead. God why didn't you protect me!? I carried your word? First off, nobody told you to go there. You did that yourself. Did you consult me first? Secondly, did you really carry my word? Did you? How much more than having a bible with you at any given moment is to carry his word written upon your heart? Then, they carried around the Ark of the Covenant with them. Im lazy, so I thank GOD for the indwelling Holy Spirit, because Im not sure if i could carry that thing with me while i was grocery shopping. Anyway, when the ark arrived in the camp, did they worship the presence of the Lord? Did they inquire of his heart? Did they begin to submit to the Holy authority carried around with the thing? Umm...not so much. So what did they do? They shouted. 5. The shouts were like thunderclaps shaking the very ground. Ive been to a
million services with some ground shaking going on. The Philistines heard the shouts and panicked, what is going on? I find it both sad and funny that the Philistines themselves started stating the miracles of God. These are the same gods who hit the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues out in the wilderness! They know who he is, do you? So even though they knew who he was, they still chose to go into battle the next day. Of course, God rules this. So after all the shouting and mess, they go out to battle the next day, and not only do they get slaughtered, the GLORY WAS TAKEN FROM THEM!!! Wait, wait, wait, they shouted at His arrival and still lost? Yep. Because its much deeper than that. Maybe they should have entered into prayer. Maybe they should have worshiped. Maybe the should have sought the very heart of God to receive instruction, and the answer to their question. Many died that day, but that is not the part that I couldnt live with. They lost the Glory of the Lord. Others began to die. The enemies territory carried the glory of the Lord, and their idols began to fall. Of course they couldnt understand it, they didnt have a heart to. But Israel did. They had the heart to understand it, and unappreciated it. When I say shout, i dont mean the actual sound. It has become a forced song and dance. Practiced, rehearsed. Something that releases energy rather than releasing things of the spirit. For all sakes, if your heart is crying out before the Lord, release it! I promise, you can't practice that. The glory of the Lord is worth much much more than just a loud fake shout. So keep your practiced Hikamoshaka and dance at home.
