Man's Responsibility

Man's responsibility was always to serve - from the very beginning. This should not be shocking to us. It is God's nature to serve and we were created in the image of God. As God serves us we are to serve others.

Man's original intent was to fellowship with God by taking dominion over the earth - not by using its power to Lord over the earth but by using his power to serve the earth. We were originally intended to look after the earth, be responsible for it. How far have we fallen?

I can not help but think of the verse that I read yesterday concerning Jesus in Phil 2 - Jesus humbled himself and became a servant/slave. That was not outside of the nature of God from the beginning. God serves. Like God we are to serve humanity in all humility as well. Powerful stuff here!
