Leave
God calls Abraham to leave everything that is familiar to him for the unknown. What motivates Abraham to obey God? Does he like the idea of being famous? Does he like the sound of being a great nation? Does he like the idea of being a blessing to all the families on earth? Or does he do it out of faith and obedience to God? Were Abraham's motives pure? I think so. Why leave everything you have for the possibility of being great unless you feel called by God to do it?
Either way, Abraham goes for it. Which makes me wonder what I need to leave behind in my life in order to be obedient to God. What do I need to walk away from in order to receive a blessing from God? What if greatness and fame is more about being faithful to God's call? What if greatness and fame is more about trusting in God's word and His promises for us?
How can I be faithfully obedient to God today? What do I need to leave behind in order to follow Jesus with everything I have? When we faithfully trust and obey God with our lives our greatness is simply a reflection of the glory of God.
