Oops! Right after being obedient to God's call Abraham makes a big mistake that he wishes he could erase.

Why did he do it? Maybe he remembered God's promise to make him a great nation and thought he needed to protect his own life in order to make that happen?

In a sense Abraham is trying to play God. He is trying to control the events and details of his life instead of placing his trust in God to protect him and his family.

I do the same thing in my life. I try to control it and when I do I usually make mistakes. I think I know what's best for me and sometimes willing to compromise integrity to make it happen.

When there seems to be no way out except to handle it on our own we need to seek God's guidance and trust him for the results.
