Manly men
David and Jonathan's love had nothing to do with homosexual tendencies. In fact David is saying that their relationship was much deeper and satisfying than sex (more pleasant than the love of women).
I've been reading "Wild at Heart" by John Elderidge and from his description of a man's heart you couldn't find more manly men than Jonathan and David. It was their mutual celebration of all that it meant to be a man that bonded them-created in the image of God, a love for adventure and completely surrended to God's will..
When the new heaven and earth have come all of the saints will enjoy this type of bond and unity. And since their is no marriage in heaven it has nothing to do with sex. As Christians we have already entered God's Kingdom and this type of unity is available to us all. Too bad the flesh, the world, and the Devil are constantly getting in the way. The truth is that as Christians we are all SOUL MATES. Let's start acting like it.
