When you are misunderstood...!
"Assumicide" = we get a bit of evidence and we make a lot of assumptions!
• Few things hurt more than being misunderstood by close friends.
• Paul - wonderful example of integrity and holiness and a willingness to put the honour of Jesus above all things.
Three main charges against Paul:
• Changing his travel plans - worldly.
• lacking care and love for the church.
• Being harsh and not forgiving.
1: Integrity1: v12-22
• "I have felt with you with holiness and sincerity" - pure motives.
• "My message is clear and consistent" no gap between his message and the life he lived.
2: Love 1 v23 - 2v2
• "God is my witness" - I love you and don't want to hurt you unnecessarily.
3: Forgiveness 2 v3-11
• " I forgive a repentant sinner and so should you all.
1 - Sometimes we will be misunderstood by our close friends.
2 - Best response is honesty.
3 - We can't control how people will respond.
4 - Pray for those who misunderstand you.
5 - Don't return evil for evil - just like Jesus!
