The Lord told Moses what was to happen for the Israelites' Day of Atonement.
It was on the 10th day of their 7th month.
Aaron had to begin the process when the Lord appeared and not when he wanted to, otherwise he would die like his sons did.
Aaron had to wear his special tunic and make some sacrifices.
At one point Aaron puts both his hands on a goat's head and puts all the sins of the Israelites on the goat, then sends the goat out in the desert instead of sacrificing it (little unorthodox).
This was a Sabbath day and the Israelites were forbidden to work on it.
