The faith is shown to be synonymous with the apostolic preaching by the use of delivered (Gr paradido) which is a technical term for the preaching or handing down of the gospel message by the apostles (the word is used twice in I Corinthians 15:3 for the message which Paul %u201Cdelivered%u201D after having %u201Creceived%u201D it himself). What is being promoted here is the apostolic preaching, that is, the Word of God, not an attitude of constant fighting with other believers. This is reinforced by the use of once, which is not the word for %u201Conce upon a time%u201D assuming a considerable passage of time, but rather means %u201Conce for all,%u201D and refers to the fact that the apostles preached this Word as a final and authoritative message which cannot now be changed by the false teachers.
