The Spirit of Jezebel...

Jezebel and Ahab were perhaps the worst husband and wife teem ever recorded in the Bible. They did more to provoke the Lord to anger than just about anyone. The couple is first recorded in 1 kings 16:31-33 and their terror ends in 2 kings 10. Ahab was the king in Israel which took a foreign women to wife (Jezebel) and worshiped her foreign gods, and eventually the wife Jezebel the Queen became more powerful than the King himself. They had their own prophets who worshiped baal, a foreign canaanite god and they literally fought against God and his true prophets; Elijah and Elisha.

Revelation 2:18-29
18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; 19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

The spirit of Jezebel brings a false doctrine, a false teaching that causes the word of God to be non effective in order for the spirit of lust to get in the church. An example would be this very known Statement that came from the spirit of Jezebel: “lord don’t move my mountain but give me the strength to climb it,” This statement has caused many of God’s people everywhere to be content with their problems and except sicknesses and weakness.

Jezebel brings false truths that can be mistaken as truth by causing the people of God to apply the truth wrongly or altering the truth so minutely that it is not even noticed. The spirit of Jezebel does this so that the saint does not have enough revelation or truth to be able to walk in the spirit, and what usually happens is the saint begins to express the works of the flesh instead of the fruits of the spirit. She wants to “teach and seduce” the people of God. She is a seducing spirit.

1 John 2 :26-27 ...These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Even Jesus Christ warned us about these seducing prophet;

Mark 13: 22 ....for false Christ and false prophets shall arise and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

2 timothy 3 :13... but evil men and seducers shall wax worse deceiving and being deceived.

MY THOUGHTS: I recall my church singing this song when I was a young girl: "lord don't move this mountain, but give me the strength to climb it, Lord don't take away my stumbling block but just lead me all around it..." As I saw that being used as an example of how the spirit of Jezebel can present as truth and hinder us or put us as Christians in a place of contentment rather than victory through Christ, I can definitely see more clearly how that has happened. There is another song I remember: Lord just build me a cabin....

Let's apply scripture references to prove the inconsistency with the words in these songs to what the Word declares:

Moving Mountains - Matthew 17:20 - Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. According to this scripture if I have faith no matter how small, I possess the power and authority to speak to the mountain and it will move! If I go around the mountain why do I need faith because I am avoiding or not coming into contact with this mountain. Just as David had to come into contact with Goliath in order for the power of God through his faith to be made manifest, we too must face the mountains and through faith conquer them.

Stumbling blocks/enemies - I Samuel 24:4 - And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily. According to this scripture the Lord will deliver my enemies into my hand.

Building a Cabin in heaven - Revelation 21:2 (read also 21:1-27)- And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. Now that does not sound like a cabin to me!

I've come to realize that we as saints need to truly meditate upon God's word and seek discernment as to what it is saying to us. In past I have realized that a lot of what I've been taught is not in an of itself wrong, but some of it was due to ignorance or just repeating what had been done in time past by the saints before. In songs sometimes we don't even listen to the lyrics but focus more on the music; it is crucial to make sure we listen to what we are singing and determine if it is biblically sound. If God says we have faith to move mountains then why are we asking Him to lead us around them? If He says he will bring our enemies before us why are we asing him to lead us arouind them? If He's promised that heaven is a beautiful place adorned with the most precious jewels, then why are we asking for a cabin? Sounds like a spirit of low expectatons and doubt to me!

We must do as the word says 2 Timothy 2:15 - "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." It's not okay to take God's word for granted and not open your bible and study for yourself. We cannot afford to continue living in a "content/ignorant" state as Christians by not utilizing the power and authority that God has given us. That's exactly what the enemy wants us to do; we must come against the spirit of Jezebel and bind it in the name name of Jesus! The enemy is continuously studying how he might devour us and never puts down his weapons, we too must hold tight to the SWORD of the Spirit which is the Word of God and move forward in this battle as triumphant warriors of Christ!
