In the prior chapter they had just collected seven (perfection, completion) baskets full from a few loaves and fish. But they didn't bring a one with them.
How often does God give and we forget? Yet, He is able to give much more.
Already they are getting confused when He's pointing out a single truth using the last miracle as an object lesson. How easily and quickly distractions can multiply. The number of loaves didn't matter, the bread maker did. And yet, we are walking with Him and we are forgetting to take in all that He is giving us.
