It's so sad that most people are so preoccupied with this world that their reaction to God is representated in this verse. It has to be as much a lack of belief as anything; how can one who truly believes in the Living God and His power be so negligent with tbeir eternity? I chalk it up to a sort of practical atheism, meaning they say they believe but they live as if they don't.
