These people reacted like all men do when God begins to show Himself...they BEGGED Jesus to leave their region. When the Divine begins to exert authority over the realm of man, the human psyche cannot stand it. Our natural reaction in our flesh is to plead for God to withdraw and leave us alone. As a sinner, the presence and power of God is unbearable. Makes me wonder why we want people to like us so much. It would almost be an honor to be begged to leave somewhere!
