Recapturing grace

1. A foundation for grace

Saul had ben rejected as king. Jonathan was ok with that and asked david to be kind to his family.

2. Extending Grace

Saul and Jonathan had died. He asks if there is anyone of Sauls family left. Usually kings ask this to kill family members who might lay claim to the throne. David remembered his promise to Jonathan and wanted to honor out. imagine Mephibosheths surprise. mephibosheth was crippled and living out in the barren wilderness. He is summoned before David and expects to die.

3. Understanding Grace Mephibosheth felt worthless. He was nothing. But grace is not based upon what we are but whose we are. David takes this unimportant, undeserving cripple and brings him to his own table for life. Mephibosheth sits among the king,.the king, the kings sons, and kings advisors.

4. Recapturing Grace

Of all the major religions of the world,.only christianity makes Gods love open and free to all based not on what we do but upon grace. There its nothing that we can do to make ourselves worthy.
