What God does is based on what God did
Isn't funny that our perspective is so easily shifted to something that appears "more interesting" than old news? We easily tire of the things we already know, whether it's popular movies and songs that we quickly trade in for what's new or it's miracles happening right in front of us and we forget the miracle that's happened in us.
When Jesus reminds the 72 who are excited about seeing demons being subject to them to instead be excited about the fact that their name is written in the book of life, he's adjusting their perspective. In focusing what God was doing with others, they were starting to forget what God had done for them.
Never forget that God has taken your miserable, sinful self, redeemed you and written your name in the Book of Life. What God can accomplish through you would not be possible unless he first accomplished something in you. Rejoice over that!
