Our God is a Jealous God
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" Psalm 37:4 We see here that our God isn't just a ruthless hateful dictator. But the verse only applies to those who "delight themselves in the Lord," in other words, those who make time to grow closer to Him and daily glorify Him. Obviously those who don't give God the glory He deserves don't get quite the same treatment. What I found most intriguing about this passage is not that God cut Herod down to size, but the means by which he did it. Not only did Herod have to DIE because He didn't give God the credit that was due Him, but he didn't even get to die in an honorable way. How humiliating would it be to be overcome by, and totally defenseless to little worms.
