Following is more than walking behind Jesus
So....I was started off on the idea at church this morning that whenever Jesus told people to follow Him it was a big deal for them to drop everything and go. And being called to be a follower of Christ in the current day means much more than just being covered by Jesus' blood. He asks all of His disciples to follow Him, as in being conformed to a person who is more like Him daily and sharing the gospel with those around us. In this particular verse, and many others dealing with Jesus healing someone, they immediately follow Him. It is a instinctive reaction right after they are healed to follow Jesus and His mission. This should be our same knee-jerk reaction. Jesus has healed me (and continues to heal me daily), and now I will follow His ways...not just walk behind Him and notice what He did, but walk with Him daily and continuously be formed into His image! :) This is such a higher calling on each of our lives and I want to continually be renewed in this way.
