Transition

God is our salvation. He is revealing Himself to us. Surely, there are things that would try to rise up in us that are not like Him. These things need to be cut out of us. But God is not just a physician who treats symptoms. He is the GREAT Physician. Instead of just removing the symptoms that are on the surface, He is cutting down to the foundation. He is completely removing, from us, the source of all that is not like Him.

16When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

17Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

19The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

There are things that will try to overtake us. Ungodly things will try to conquer us and dominate us. These are things that try to exalt themselves as gods over us. Some times it appears that these enemies are winning. But God has come for the salvation of His people. Nevertheless, God did not tell us that this process would be easy. That is why He uses words like "overcomers". But notice what the prophet says about his attitude during the process. He is determined that no matter what happens, no matter how tough things get, he is going to rejoice in the Lord.

We often rejoice in our circumstances. If things are going well, we rejoice TO God. It is so easy to sing praises to God when all is well.

Habakkak's experience is a lesson for us. If we truly want to be delivered and truly come into the things of God, and take on the Nature of God, we must go through a process. Most assuredly, this process will be painful and hard at times. The prophet speaks of resting in the day of trouble; not panicing or worrying; not crying and complaining. He realized what we all must realize: God is our strength. He has not left us to be overtaken. He has not left us to die. He is bringing us into a new place with Him.

God, help us to trust in You with all of our hearts. Thank You for salvation and the strength, which only You can provide, as we wait for the perfection of Your Will in our lives.
