Dangers of this world
Just a few verses before these, we saw what the face of God was like, a picture of undeserved forgiveness, love, and grace. Here, though, we see a picture of what one of the many faces of Satan looks like. "Let me have favor in your eyes, and I will give you whatever you ask.... just try a little of the world, it'll be fine. As long as your here, why don't you do a little of this, or watch a little of that. I mean, it won't really hurt anyone else..." And then he offers you anything you want. You can have riches. You can have that affair. You can use those drugs. It all just feels so good! But we forget that God has told us that we are not part of this world. We are called to be set apart, to live like foreigners longing for their home. Don't buy into the lies of the Deceiver. Everything he says to you may sound good, but in the end it leads to destruction. Test everything by the always true, always faithful Word of God, and He will keep you from falling astray.
