I find it interesting that in Gen. 15:8 Abram asks the Lord, "O Lord God, how may I know that I shall possess it?"
My question, or food for thought, would be, did Abram stumble in that same faith he had 2 verses up in vs. 6 when it is said that,
"Then he believed in the Lord; and He [the Lord] reckoned it to him as righteousness."
It seems as if the impossible crept into Abrams mind and he wanted some kind of "proof" or tangible evidence that God would truly hold true to His promise.
If you look at the response God gave to Abram, it is not the best.
vs.12 & 13
"...and behold, terror and great darkness fell upon him. And God said to Abram, "Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, where they will be enslaved and oppressed for 400 years."
What if Abram didn't ask that question? If he asked that question lacking faith what would have happened if he had held onto his faith, which was counted to him as righteousness?
Even in Abrams faith he stumbled and showed the obvious need for Christ to come and save humanity.
Any comments or perspectives on this would be great.
