Not one good?

This is an interesting thought. Was there really not even one good person? It made me pause to think--would I want to be friends with King David? He was one of the best of his generation. Yet, would I trust him with my kids or my wife? Then again, isn't there something that rises up and says that he is exactly the kind of man I would want to be around? He was authentic...real....willing to live wholeheartedly for Him.

The real issue here isn't was David a good guy. The problem is in our measuring stick. When we measure ourselves against other men and women we can start to feel pretty good about ourselves. "I've never killed anyone..." We know the REAL measuring stick though---don't we? HOLY. When measured on a backdrop of HOLY it changes everything. We are called to be HOLY because He is HOLY. Maybe David was a pretty wise fellow after all....
