To: an Imaginary Friend :)

God once spoke to me about what I saw as irony or even hypocrisy in this text from Leviticus. I was shocked that God would push people away (as it seems). Then I read what it says in Matt 18 (the very same week) where Jesus said "And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire."
Why would the same God who seemingly despises defect demand that you do these things to yourself to enter into life and avoid sin.
It is out of reverence for His holiness. He deserves honor. But, we in our flesh cannot give Him the honor He deserves. It truly comes from within. This is a heart issue...and a reverence issue.
