Genesis 37:18-20 Cain and Able All Over Again
Jealousy turns to desire to murder. I don't think it was just that they were jealous here. They were in Shechem and Jacob sent Joseph to check in on them because it appears that they hadn't checked in with dad. Not only that, but they were moving further away to Dothan.
I think they knew they were busted, but it was even more bitter because it was the favorite son who would come and snitch on them again.
