Flesh vs Spirit
It is sometimes hard to tell a Christian from a non-Christian. In fact, two people can claim to be Christians and one actually not be (or both!). Even here it says "if". It's a matter of the heart. Just raising your hand in church doesn't do it. Just saying the right words to please your parents or pastor doesn't do it. To whom or what does my heart belong? That is the question. Do I love the world and the things it offers (flesh) or do I love God? My experience is that now, having the Holy Spirit inside me, I can choose to live in the flesh, but I am constantly plagued by guilt. I know I shouldn't be doing it. That's the Holy Spirit talking. Those who do not have the Spirit are unaware of why it is wrong to love the world and its ways.
