excuses are like armpits

and someone among the lampstands who was “like a Son of Man.” His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like bronze that glows hot in a furnace, and his voice was like the noise of flooding water. (Revelation 1:13-15 NCV)

I would probably fall over too if I seen this,
It seems pretty scary! But as John falls over, nearly passing out, Jesus comes up and says "don't be afraid, it's me, Jesus. You know me John! John, the end is near, And its I who have the keys to death and to Hell."

And He tells John to write! Write it down so you don't forget it! Write so you don't think it was all just a dream! Write it so you will remember every detail!

I would bet that every day since Revelation was written and sent out it has been written about! We're still writing! And will continue to write about it till He returns for us!

And John, knowing he was sent to this island, Patmos for this very purpose, begins to write everything. Do you think he understood everything as he wrote?
I think he was just being obedient!

As he writes, he records Him standing in the midst of seven lamp stands, which represent the seven church's in the province of Asia...

Here is the secret of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands: The seven lampstands are the seven churches, and the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches. (Revelation 1:20 NCV)

In the midst of the churches. That's where He is standing. He cares about the churches! People stay away from churches for all kinds of reasons! All kinds of EXCUSES!

" I was hurt there, I just can't go back."
"there are hypocrites there, I'm not going there!"
"they just want my money"
"they go past 12 o'clock, I can't spend all day there!"
They're too stuffy, or not stuffy enough, they don't use the right version of the bible....

But this is where He stood. In the very midst of the churches. He's still there! Somewhere that you WON'T find people who make excuses!
And John was seeing this on 'the Lords day' the day when we go to church!

Christ wants us to be part of His body, building the church! He doesn't want us playing church...He wants us to BE the church! After all, He is in us! And we should BE the church! And in the church!

There Is a specific message for the church...and He is about to tell us in the next 21 chapters!

And if you're not in church, GO! Excuses are like armpits!
They all stink! :-)
