All for Him

Lord is is as if the opening statement, prophesied by Jeremiah, was Your declaration. "David will never fail to have a man sitting on the throne of the house of Israel." This is being direct and with authority.

This statement is what caught my attention, "The Levitical priests will never fail to have a man always before Me to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings, and to make sacrifices.". What I have discovered is the joy and pain associated with tradition. This statement clearly tells me that the Levitical priests will fulfill their role.

Then comes a warning, "If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night so that day and night cease to come at their regular time,". You are telling me that Your promise to David requires the Levitical priests to continue with their traditions or a promise will be lost. Lord, tradition is a huge pain. It stamps out creativity and spontaneity. Yet, for some reason You choose tradition to fulfill Your promise. Night is here and the Levitical priests continue to this day.

Now You deliver the concluding statement, "then also My covenant with My servant David may be broken". Interesting Lord. If the tradition established through the Levitical priests was not maintained, then it is possible, Your promise to David would not have been fulfilled.

You used tradition to fulfill Your promise to David. It was because of tradition that Your Son was sent to the cross. It was tradition that enabled Your Son to become a sacrifice for sin. He paid the price and was elevated and reigns on a throne.

In short Lord and without fail;
when I do as You instruct,
when I follow Your calling,
when I seek Your council,
You and Your will is glorified.

Tradition may have been an attributing factor that killed Your Son, yet I am saved!
