Yoke - definition

Jewish Rabbi's each had their own set of teachings or interpretations of scripture referred to as "yokes" - Matthew is using this word yoke to describe Jesus' interpretation of scripture, his set of teachings. That is why he says my take my YOKE upon you and LEARN from me. Jesus then goes on to describe his yoke "set of teachings" as easy and burden as light.
Too often this scripture is misunderstood to mean a binding between animals, but when read in context yoke "set of teachings" makes much more sense.
